- Writing Book 2by Octavius Blackburn
Book 2 of the Trinity City Series is on the way. I’m working on the 2nd draft, trimming the fat and adding personality to the characters. This is my favorite part of the writing process, when I fill in all the cracks in the story line. Including the ending, which has yet to be written.
Trinity City Veronica follows 21-year-old Veronica around the guts of Trinity City. After getting out of a abusive relationship in an unconventional way, she takes to the streets and makes a friend, along with quite a few enemies.
This is just a teaser. I don’t want to give too much away now. Stay tuned…
- Thoughts on Writer’s Blockby Octavius Blackburn
I rarely suffer from “writer’s block,” but I have days where I don’t meet my goal of 1,000 words. Some days I’ll write 200 because I’m unsure where the story’s going or how to make the pieces of the story fit. Instead of forcing myself to write, I work out some of the details I’ve glossed over, or re-read what I’ve written. Often, this will help me catch the creative spark needed to continue the development of my story.
On the rare occasion when I’m “burnt-out, I’ll take a walk, or hike a nature trail to clear my head. I use this as a form of meditation, which acts as a “reset button” for the mind, body and soul. In my experience, the answer to the most difficult problems will enter into your mind when you least expect it.
