The following are books and films I used for information and inspiration when writing the Trinity City Series. I may add to this list from time, but if you’re interested in understanding organized crime in the U.S., I think these books lay a solid foundation.

Friend of the Family by D. Lea Jacobs is the story of Ed Robb, a highly-skilled and dedicated special agent who worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as an undercover operative. Throughout his career, he played a crucial role in bringing down a wide range of criminal organizations, from drug cartels to terrorist cells. But he’s infamous for his part in Operation Coldwater, where he partnered with another undercover operative from the Bureau, Joe Pistone a.k.a Donny Brasco, to infiltrate and build cases against la cosa nostra including members of the Bonanno Family and other criminal organizations involved in murder, human trafficking, illegal gambling, drug smuggling, and arms dealing.
